AbleLiving Services  is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities, and seniors living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. Our clients direct and customize the services they receive and we support them to maximize their independence and enhance their quality of life. We provide services across the Golden Horseshoe in the Mississauga, Burlington, Stoney Creek and Hamilton communities.

We are currently hiring a PART-TIME PERSONAL SUPPORT AIDE(S) to join our RECHARGE team located in Mississauga and surrounding area. If you are interested in joining a team of highly skilled health care professionals who are committed to making a difference then we need to hear from you.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the program coordinator, this position is responsible for regular monitoring and provision of support to clients to enable them to remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible.  Duties include monitoring, observing, assisting with and participating in housekeeping and homemaking activities, recreational and social activities.  Such duties are carried out under the direction of the client or alternate decision maker and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws and regulations governing service provision.  

EMPLOYMENT GUIDE: 

High school education.  Prior experience or knowledge of providing support services for people with disabilities and/or seniors an asset. Certification in health and safety and first aid preferred.  Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs is essential. Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required. Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.  Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential. Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are required. Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively. Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential.  Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
