AbleLiving Services is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. Our clients direct and customize the services they receive and we support them to maximize their independence and enhance their quality of life. We provide services across the Golden Horseshoe in the Mississauga, Burlington, Stoney Creek and Hamilton communities.

We are currently hiring for Part-Time Personal Support Workers to join our Community Home Support team located in Hamilton/Burlington and surrounding area. This position will offer you a competitive wage, paid orientation and on-going professional development opportunities.


DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Providing non-medical personal support services for clients to enable them to remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible.
  • Support with daily living, life-skills, light housekeeping and social activities
  • All duties are carried out under the direction of the client or alternate decision maker and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws and regulations governing service provision.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma required (Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification preferred).
  • Experience in the provision of personal support services to people with disabilities and/or seniors are preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Prior experience or knowledge of providing support services for people with disabilities and/or seniors an asset.
  • Certification in health and safety and first aid preferred.
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are required.
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively.
  • Must be available to work within a 24 hour, seven day/week work schedule.
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential.
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
