Idlewyld Manor is an accredited, not-for-profit, charitable long-term care facility situated on Hamilton’s west mountain.  Their mission is to enrich the lives of Idlewyld residents by providing excellence in health and personal care in a safe home-like environment.  Idlewyld is home to 192 residents, on a picturesque 13-acre corner lot, dotted with trees and gardens. Idlewyld is steep in a rich history of community service, and celebrated its sesquicentennial anniversary (150 years) in 1996. THIS IS A CASUAL ON CALL POSITION 

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services is responsible:

  •  for the general maintenance and upkeep of Idlewyld property, performing preventative maintenance and routine inspections
  • fulfills the role of fire marshal conducting/assisting with fire drills as required and is knowledgeable with all life safety/emergency situtations
  • Other responsibilities include, but are not all inclusive are:  snow removal, yard work, carpet care, furniture set-up, painting and mechanical repairs of equipment within the building, and relevant committee participation

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude, training/experience in plumbing, electrical, painting, and decorating
  • Able to make general repairs to building and equipment
  • Good physical and mental health with no physical condition that would preclude lifting and other heavy work as per the physical demands analysis
  •  Must be able to read, write English as well as be able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be reliable, conscientious, and demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with others
  • Must be flexible and able to adhere to time deadlines
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Post-secondary education / training desirable
